Laser Therapy - An Alternative For Treating Rosacea

Tip! Typical Rosacea symptoms are a combination of any of the following: Red looking, flushed skin - especially on the nose and the cheeks, small, dilated blood vessels known as telangiectases may appear in the background, inflamed red bumps sometimes with a yellow head (acne rosacea), a shiny, oily appearance to the skin, and roughness, or ‘orange peel’ like texture of the affected skin.

Having tried numerous methods of treating rosacea, those being antibiotics, ointments and the like, the laser surgery which is available on the global market has proven to be a very reliable method of reducing or compensating the rosacea.
There are a number of things you should consider before opting to go for laser therapy.
As a mere guideline, the laser surgery should be performed by a licensed practioner whom you feel comfortable with and has answered all your queries and concerns thoroughly and in depth. The procedure is a delicate one and requires the surgeon to have a vast practical experience in order to perform the surgery well, a beauty therapist is not a recognisably qualified person to offer such surgery. But, most important of all, you need to be committed to the surgery, pre-surgery and post-surgery as the recovery can have complications.

The Laser technology itself, commonly known as the photoderm and vasculight lasers send an intense beam of light directly onto the affected area of the skin, which is a safe method of delivering such treatment. It works on the inflammed capillaries and damaged skin layers and prevents the blood from giving it colouration. The complications arise, usually during post-surgery, which some patients have found the rosacea to worsen and even suffer long-term skin damage.
However, new-age technology has allowed advances in this field which allow more accurate surgery, which in turn, provides a more stable, safer and precise method of locating and destroying the rosacea.

Tip! As an oral medication for rosacea, physicians may utilize a variety of medications, mostly antibiotic in nature, to help control rosace by controlling severe facial flushing and swelling. Sometimes in severe cases, even cardiovascular medications are used to help control the facial flushing.

It may be a worthwhile point to note that, longevity is vital in the skins health, and as you have more and more laser surgery, the less longevity you skin has, thus, ageing your appearance since the blood and the vital nourishment the cells need to rejuvinate, aren’t being supplied adequaletly enough, although, the surgery is highly recommended, with photos being taken of patients of the previous look and the post-surgery look, vast differences can be noted. However, post-surgery soreness, bruising and scabbing is expected afterwards, but this is normal.

To be confident that the laser surgery is the right course of action for you, requires a consultation with a specialist prior to arranging the actual surgery and varies depending on the individual. Typically the laser surgery can cost around $600 Us Dollars, which includes the consultation. But, you’ll have to wait atleast 4 months after your last surgery to see the true effects and success of the treatment.

Tip! First, let’s look at the common ingredients in pharmaceutical rosacea medications. Two popular topical prescription drugs for rosacea are Metronidazole and Azelic Acid.

Natural Help for Rosacea

Tip! In addition to topical rosacea gels, creams, and sprays, a complete skincare regimen including face wash and moisturizer should also be employed as a preventive measure for rosacea.

The chronic skin condition of rosacea which is medically known as acne rosacea affects around 1% of the population; it normally affects adults between the ages of 30 to 40 with fair skin. It is an inflammatory skin condition which makes the complexion in the areas such as the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead become red, ruddy and flushes easily, pustules that resemble acne appear and red fine dilated blood vessels known as telangiectasia may become more prominent.

In severe cases, the cheeks and forehead are persistently affected with eruptions with prominent blood vessels, puffiness and redness. The eyes maybe affected by inflammation of the eyelids known as blepharitis and conjunctivitis. Fair skinned people seem to be more susceptible and the condition gets worst in time. The exact cause of rosacea is unknown but research has linked rosacea to body bacteria, digestive disorders such as acid reflux, abnormal sensitivity of blood capillaries, overuse of corticosteroid cream for other skin problems and an infection by a skin mite (Demodex folliculorum) of the sebaceous glands. Chronic severe untreated cases of rosacea can lead to disfigurement of the face.

Tip! Topically applied rosacea medications, especially those of a natural origin, are becoming more and more popular, since there is no risk of them becoming ineffective over a period of time, as there may be with man-made topical rosacea solutions.

Changing the diet may help with rosacea, drinking alcohol and hot drinks and eating spicy foods are known to trigger flare ups of rosacea so avoiding these may be wise. Cutting out chocolate, tea, yeast extract, eggs, cheese, citrus fruits and wheat may also be beneficial. Other factors that can cause flare ups of rosacea are stress, extreme hot and cold temperatures, vigorous exercise, and exposure to sunlight.

The following supplements may help if you are suffering from Rosacea.
