Oily Skin Care Tips

Tip! Most commonly, teenagers are most likely to be affected by oiliness of the skin a however, hormonal changes, such as pregnancy, puberty, menstrual cycles etc., can affect the sebum secretions of the skin and result in oily skin.

Oily skin can be difficult to deal with but with the right products and techniques it can be managed. One of the most prevalent problems associated with oily skin is breakouts. The excess oil on the skin makes it difficult to prevent blockage of the pores. Another problem that is a result of oily skin is the inability to maintain a desired look with makeup. Following a few oily skin care tips can help alleviate both of these problems.

Preventing breakouts on oily skin can be possible by following a few oily skin care tips. First, washing your face at least twice a day can help to prevent breakouts by preventing pores from getting clogged. Pay close attention to only wash a few times a day because excess washing may only deplete the skin of natural oils that your skin products. It may take a while before you find the right product that will work with your skin type but once you find something that is right be sure to stick with it. Oily skin may also react with certain types of sunblock and moisturizers so when shopping for types of products read the label and be sure they are oil free and won’t clog your pores.

Tip! Keep oily skin very clean so that pores do not become clogged and cause breakouts. On the other hand, you can have too much of a good thing here, and skin must not be treated too harshly nor washed too often.

Preventing makeup from running and smearing can also be prevented with specific oily skin care tips. One of these tips is to choose a water based foundation. This is important because oil based foundations will only compound your oily skin condition and result in your makeup running off of your face. A water based foundation, however, will not contribute to your oily skin care problem and will hold tightly on your face and will help the rest of your makeup remain intact. Another oily skin care tip is to use an application of pressed powder subsequent to your foundation application to set the foundation.

Tip! The treatment for oily skin should start internally. This means, take care of your physical and mental health and your skin will benefit.

Oily Skin Treatment

Tip! To manage oily skin the only common way is to use oil free products. Wash your face at least twice a day with soap.

When the sebaceous glands in the body produce excess sebum, your skin turns oilier. Due to this skin condition you are most prone to face problems such as acne, whiteheads, blackheads, etc. Therefore due care should be taken on a regular basis to reduce the chances of developing skin diseases.

Daily, mix 1 tablespoon of limejuice with cucumber juice and apply it on the skin surface almost half an hour before having a bath. Your skin may be extremely oily and so mix a few trickles of eau de cologne. By treating the skin in this manner, you are not only removing the excess oil from the skin, but also clearing the pores that are present, thus preventing the development of acne.

If your skin appears oily, then after applying your makeup the light patches usually tend to stay there. But beforehand, if it is rubbed lightly with cucumber juice, and then makeup is applied then you will not face the same problem.

Tip! Use a toner that is appropriate for oily skin. Wildcrafted’s Wild Herb Toner makes use of Witch hazel and Juniper Berry, which condition and tone the skin, while Grapefruit and Niaouli invigorate the skin prior to moisturising.

Sometimes your entire face has the remains of makeup. In this case, add witch-hazel in limejuice and then leave the area to dry. Be careful to properly dry away the area.

It is really better to add acetone in the astringent that you use, because it has the nature to dissolve the oil in the skin and eliminate it from the skin. If the astringent is strong it will burn the skin rather than removing the excess oil. It will again produce excess oil from the glands.

To bring a clear tone to the skin, use mud masks. Blend 1 teaspoon of raw honey in clay and mix it with water to form a fine paste. Spread the mixture on the face and preserve it on the face for about 15 minutes. To remove the above mixture, rinse the face with lukewarm water. Repeat the procedure for nearly three times a week.

Once or twice a week, apply the mixture of water and limejuice and leave the skin to dry for sometime. You can later wash the skin with lukewarm water and then wash again with the cold water. In this way you can take utmost care of your oily skin. Oily skin as a fact requires a lot of care in order to condition it to normal. Therefore whoever belongs to this category, they must follow the above-mentioned tips carefully, otherwise you may be exposed to different skin diseases.

Tip! Use a moisturiser designed specifically for oily skin. Wildcrafted’s Avocado Day Crčme contains wholesome oils like Wheatgerm and cocoa butter that moisturise and hydrate the skin without leaving a greasy feeling and essential oils of orange blossom and lemon to cleanse and soothe.

Skin Care Tips for Oily Skin

Tip! Pregnancy related – Pregnancy is a time when your body goes through a number of hormonal changes, these will tend to normalise themselves after birth, however, using a good quality, natural skin care regime can give you considerable relief while your pregnant and wish to get your oily skin under control.

Sometime, some of us have very oily skin — so oily that it shines!

Here are some tips I’ve learned over the years for skin care and make-up:

Only use oil-free foundations, powder blushers and powder eyeshadows. Apply foundation on freshly washed skin — apply over eyelids and lips. A base of foundation on eyelids and lips will help eye shadow and lipstick stay on longer.

To help control the oil, wash your face with mild soap and water 2-3 times a day (if you are at home).

If you are not at home, carry baby wipes (for sensitive skin) in your purse and clean your face with a baby wipe — then re-apply make-up. Use a drying facial masque at least once a week. Place hot, steamy
washcloths on your face before applying the masque to open pores. This will help the masque “deep clean” your pores.

Tip! Climatic – Hot, humid climates tend to cause oily skin. Again you can counteract this by using a high quality natural skin care regime and drinking lots of water (in excess of 3 litres per day).

Only use oil-free moisturizer for sensitive skin at bedtime. If you want to dry up oil on top of make-up — lightly dab your face with toilet tissue. The toilet tissue will soak-up the oil without removing your make-up.

To cover up a blemish, after you apply foundation, apply a tiny amount of under-eye concealer to your fingertip and lightly dab the blemish until it disappears.

I would recommend you to use Witch Hazel (available in drug stores) as an inexpensive astringent. You can also dab Witch Hazel on you scalp with a cotton ball to dry up the oil on your scalp. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water a day to help control breakouts.
